Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists help people affected by injury, illness or disability through movement and exercise, manual therapy, education and advice. They maintain health for people of all ages, helping patients to manage pain and prevent injuries.
What is pelvic floor PhysioTherapy?
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is a specialized form of physiotherapy that requires extensive additional training in the function and dysfunction of the pelvic floor muscles. An assessment with a trained Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist involves the external and internal evaluation of the pelvic floor muscles, as well as a deep dive into the muscles of the low back, abdomen, hips, and legs in order to get to the root of the issue. Aliya approaches pelvic health holistically and takes into consideration breathing, social support, stressors, sleep, nutrition, and life stages to assess and treats the whole person, not just the pelvic floor. She has extensive training in incontinence, prenatal and postpartum pelvic floor conditions, pelvic pain, painful sex, diastasis recti, labour prep, and more. She creates a safe space to discuss topics that can be uncomfortable to talk about and loves helping others optimize their pelvic floor function and overall health.
How Does it Work?
Your initial visit with our on-site Physiotherapist includes a patient interview, mobility testing and the use of hands-on diagnostic techniques. Physio will review your personal health history and set treatment goals. A full-body assessment is done to build your customized treatment plan. A localized problem may stem from a systemic dysfunction, and the Physiotherapist looks to the root of the problem to treat chronic and recurring conditions comprehensively rather than implementing disparate localized treatments as they occur. A physiotherapist with a work focus may apply their specialty for optimizing a treatment plan for pain by re-aligning the body and its systems to achieve long-term pain resolution.
