TORONTO STAR | Readers' Choice 2020 PLATINUM | Pilates studio is grateful for its community

To ensure its members continuously meet their fitness and wellness goals — before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic — Imprint Pilates offers a host of relevant services.

“We have all been dancing and flowing to shift and evolve with our members, so we can continue showing up for them the best way we can,” says Anita Ivic, owner of Imprint, which Star readers named Best Pilates Studio in Toronto (Platinum).

“Our community is so important to us. As a small business, the only way we’ve been able to continue is the support of our devoted patrons and members. We’re grateful to be able to support them in return, whether virtually or in person.”

When mandated by public health authorities, Imprint Pilates has the capability to quickly shift to an online delivery of its one-on-one services and semi-private instruction.

Much like in-person sessions, an online format, says Ivic, starts with a personalized plan that considers maximizing individual goals, needs and desires. An Imprint team member conducts a postural analysis, identifies strengths and weaknesses, and addresses any injuries someone may have. The consult is then turned into a program.

“We match you with someone from our team, whether that’s in-person or virtually, to focus on your personal goals,” says Ivic. “The feedback from those who have experienced virtual has been amazing. Especially in a lockdown, many people find that it’s a way to not just benefit their bodies but also to have human interaction, which becomes beneficial for the mind. When it’s safe to do so, we look forward to welcoming people back into our physical space.”

Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, between King West and the Financial and Entertainment districts, Imprint’s services include Pilates, yoga, TRX, massage and regulated Integrative Health Services. Prior to the Nov. 23 lockdown, Ivic says Imprint was focused on in-person one-on-one and semi-private instruction, which it will resume as soon as it is possible.

“Safety has always been our top priority,” she says. “We have personal protective equipment, we communicate regularly with our members to keep them updated on the latest protocols, we screen for symptoms, we use medical-grade cleaners, we have hand sanitizing stations, and people can also wash their hands. Because our approach has always been personalized, we limit the number of guests by having everyone schedule appointments. No one can enter the space without an appointment. This keeps our space safe and calm.”
